Trillanes on BBC interview: PROUDEST MOMENT of his life

“ One of the proudest moments of  (his) life” – is the comment of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV a  week after the BBC exclusive interview with BBC’s Hardtalk’s news anchor Stephen Sackur.
Stephen Sackur asked Senator Trillanes "Are you a democrat?... "Yes, ah... I am from the Nationalista Party." was the answer of the Senator, to which Sackur immediately replied " No, I'm not talking about party affliations. I'm talking about your commitment to democaracy. “Personally, knowing the impact of the interview to the global audience and knowing now that Hardtalk is very popular yet the most difficult talk show for any guest, I can honestly say that it is one of the proudest moments in my public life,” Senator Trillanes said in a statement.
“It is what it is. People who watched the full interview (not the spliced one) are entitled to their own opinions. The haters will hate; the believers will believe,”
The interview dwelled on the the view and comments  of the Senator regarding the sitting Presient Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The BBC news anchor said that Trillanes’s answers are seemed “ out of tune” and “inharmonious” with the current public sentiment since the president as per the current survey ratings still has approval rating despite his brutal declaration of war on drugs.

“The bulk of the Filipino people are not really aware on the ground. The propaganda machine is very, very effective. The bulk of the Filipino public are busy with their day-to-day living. They don’t really get to know the magnitude of the damage Duterte has done,” Senator Trillanes said in the Hardtalk interview.

The British broadcaster also made mention that the Philippines has become safer under President Duterte’s administration and that he is just delivering to the people what he promised during the election campaign. But Trillanes said the the common Filipinos, are just busy with their day-to-day lives, and have no idea on the “ magnitude of the damage Duterte has done”.

“It is what it is. People who watched the full interview, not the spliced one, are entitled to their own opinions. The haters will hate; the believers will believe,” .
“Setting aside the trolls, the critics who gave very negative feedback presume that they can do better. But we very well know that they cannot. So, we march forward,” the Senator  said.
