The unrelenting war on drugs of President Rodrigo Roa
Duterte continues with its many avenues and fronts.
One of its focus, now shifts to Region VI, most specifically
Iloilo city which the president have been branded by the president as the “most
shabulized” province.
A few days after it was announced that decorated Philippine National
Police Chief Joven “Narco-politician hunter” Espenido has been given a new
assignment- in the Drilon country of Iloilo city, the president gave a warning
to incumbent Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog to cut off all his alleged drug
connections.
"I'll tell you again, Mayor. Dinadawit ka. For
the longest time, updated list, nandiyan ka. Ngayon pang wala pang nangyari,
baka gusto mo nang tapusin 'yang koneksyon mo," President Rodrigo
Duterte told reporters in Pampanga, referring to Iloilo City mayor Jed Mabilog.
He warned Mabilog to stop protecting drug lords and asking the police for favors.“Do not protect. Do not call the police ganito na ganito. Do not just mess up with the… kasi ‘pagka nandiyan, drug lord ka rin e. Mapipilitan ako. Bakit ka nag-protekta?” he said.
In the celebration of the National Heroes’Day, the president have expressed his full support for the bemedalled Espenido, who have been assigned in Albuera and Ozamiz City where two mayors with alleged links to illegal drugs have already been neutralized (killed) in police anti-drug operations.
The president vouched for his appointment of incoming
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency head Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino. Aaron
Aquino is the regional director of the Philippine National Police in Region 3.
Duterte cited his prior collaboration with Aquino when the
latter was assigned in Davao, when he was still a mayor of the city.
"Ang problema kasi maraming mahuhusay sa Air
Force, sa Navy, eh kaso hindi ko sila kilala. 'Yung dumaan ng Davao
ang nakilala ko because I've worked with them in the past, And I know that
they're men with integrity, na maasahan ko," he said. *
The president was asked on the proposalof his newly
appointed PDEA chief , in the transfer or the takeover of PDEA of the
government’s war on drugs, the president replied by saying that it is an
option, most especially taking into account the recent criticisms being thrown
at the PNP.
"Remember I suspended 'yung police operations
down to the station level. So selected lang. Ang problema ko hindi lang 'yan
droga. 'Yung pulis, nagki-kidnap, droga kunwari, tapos manghingi na ng
pera, tapos may deed of sale na sa bahay mo. 'Yung mga pulis na
'yan, identified, they will be out of the service soon," he said.
