The Supreme Court (SC) has affirmed with finality the
motions for reconsideration on the transfer and burial of former President
Ferdinand E. Marcos.
Majority of the Supreme Court magistrates dismissed the
petitions filed by Senator Leila De Lima; Representative Edcel Lagman of Albay;
former human rights chairman Loretta Ann Pargas-Rosales, former Sena. Heherson
Alvarez; Algamar Latiph; Satur Ocampo ; and Zaira Patricia Baniaga.

The Supreme Court enbanc voted 10-5 in dismidding the motion
for reconsideration. Associate Justice
Diosdado Peralta was the one who made the ponencia.
“Wherefore, the motions for reconsideration as well as the
motion/petition to exhume Marcos’ remains at the LNMB are Denied with Finality.
The petition for indirect contempt in G.R. No. 228186 and G.R. No. 228245 are
Dismissed for lack of merit,”
The ten justices were Associate Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Mariano del Castillo, Teresita de Castro, Jose Mendoza, Estela Perlas-Bernabe, Justices Presbitero Velasco Jr, Samuel Martires, Andres Reyes Jr., and Noel Tijam.

Justices Andres reyes,
Samuel Martires, and Noel Tijam all of which are appointees of President
Duterte voted with the majority.
Last year, the SC ruled that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte
did not violate a law but merely exercised his mandate under the 1987
Constitution. Also, the high court concluded that Marcos, being a former
president of the republic have all the qualifications to be interred at the
Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio.
The high court stated that: “former president and
commander-in-chief, a legislator, secretary of national defense, a military
personnel, a veteran, and a Medal of Valor awardee.”
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has een known to
be close to the Marcoses, it was widely known that Imee Marcos incumbent governor of Ilocos
Norte supported Duterte’s presidential campaign.
