Escudero to abusive cops: Duterte’s term ends in 2022

Losing Vice-Presidential candidate and current Senator Francis Escudero made a warning to the abusive members of the Philippine National Police,  that their irregularities and abuses in the government’s brutal anti-drug campaign will eventually haunt them after President Duterte steps down in 2022.

“Ang paalala ko sa mga pulis na yan tulad ni Col. Marcos at iba pa: Anim na taon lamang ang termino ng sinomang presidente,” Escudero, who belongs to the majority caucus in the Senate, told CNN Philippines.  “Puwede silang sumipsip ngayon, sumunod sa mga sinasabi sa nakakataas sa kanila ngayon. Pero darating at darating yung panahon na pananagutan nila anumang ginawa nila sa ilalim ng administrasyong ito.”

Escudero a member of the Senate majority bloc, is part of the majority of Senators who condemned the killing of 17 year old Kian Delos Santos and has called to probe the incident.

Escudero, has labelled the police involved in the death of Kian Loyd Delos Santos as “killers and criminals”

He calls for the President and PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa  to conduct an investigation which led to the death of the 17 year old boy.

The Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre has already ordered the National Bureau to look into the circumstances surrounding the death of Delos Santos.

The three police officers involved in the operation that resulted to Delos Santos’ death have been already relieved of their posts, which is not the same as being relieved from service.

The senator also said tha the killing of suspected drug pushers, runners and users is wrong. He calls the PNP to explain the sources of the “planted” guns or illegal drugs found  in some crime scenes.

“May sitwasyong ding dapat ipaliwanag ng pulis saan galing yung baril at droga na ginagamit sa pag-planta at saan mapupunta yun,” he explained.
